I Have Always Been A StormSunday, June 17th, 2007
The inspiration (and title) for this piece came from the Fleetwood Mac song “Storms.”
This is the actual bare canvas - one of the few times I drew directly on it with no sketch. I decided the figures should be closer together for the final for two reasons: It’s more emotionally charged that way, and I’ll always take an off-center composition to a symmertical one. Summer EveningSunday, January 14th, 2007
Though not a conscious choice, I have relatively few night scenes. This painting, with its limited palette andtreatment of light, has made me interested in doing more now. This piece was a special commission, and I did quite a few concept sketches before arriving at the final idea.
The ShepherdSunday, January 14th, 2007
This was the first painting I completed upon returning from Amsterdam. Evidently, being around so many sheep stuck with me.
Self-Portrait With Sheep and WindmillSunday, January 14th, 2007
This is my only self-portrait to date. I’m the one on the right. This probably stems from a month of taking photographs of myself at arm’s length.

With this piece, I broke out of the traditional rectangle for a long, slender one; something I was very fond of during my days in art school. This is a no-brainer for creating an extreme horizon. I’ve noticed that I tend toward working horizontally over vertically.
Little Girl and ButterfliesWednesday, January 10th, 2007
A similar piece to “Grandma and Butterflies,” this piece was a special commission.
